WE HAVE ONE SERVICE AT 10:00 AND CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT 11:00

What makes HUCC so different than other churches? We are: progressive, innovative, contemporary, friendly, caring, education oriented, community minded, justice seeking, peace making, musical, inclusive, risk taking, and welcoming. We honor other paths to God, don't pretend to have all the answers, and care more about relationships than rules.

If I attend a worship service, will I be singled out or asked to sign up for something? 

We welcome visitors, but you choose whether you want to be recognized or not. We encourage participation, whenever you are ready. We take a few moments to greet our members and guests at the service. 

Where can my kids go while I attend the worship service?

Children are welcome to attend the worship service and are welcome everywhere adults are. But if your family decides that doesn't work for you, there is childcare for infants to five years in the nursery.  We also have a children's corner where your child can quietly get a book, paper and crayons to use during worship.    

What is Bistro Hour?  All are welcome after our services to have coffee and light refreshments in Mac Hall (down the stairs from the sanctuary).   We would love to get to know you better, please join us!

Can anyone receive Communion at HUCC?

Yes! We celebrate Communion the first Sunday of each month and at HUCC the Communion table is open - open to anyone who wishes to participate. In the spirit of community, it is a time to come together to celebrate our oneness. If you prefer not to participate, just remain seated - your participation is whatever you want it to be.

How do I learn more about your church without pressure to join? Discover Holladay is an opportunity to meet with our pastor, and other guests who want to learn more about the many facets of HUCC: our history, our theology, our plans for the future, as well as information about the United Church of Christ. Discover Holladay is typically offered once a quarter.  To find out when the next session is scheduled, check the bulletin or the on-line calendar accessible from the home-page.

What activities are there for children and youth?

In addition to the Sunday morning programming during the school year, preschoolers through fifth grade meet Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 for Kid Zone. Middle school youth meet Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:00, and senior high youth meet Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.  All are welcome, members, guests, and seekers.

Does everyone in your congregation think the same way?

Our experience is Christian and we are part of the United Church of Christ, but each congregation is different and each person is at a different place on their faith journey. We don't require our members to think the same and recognize that our differences can be a gift; and as stated in our covenant, we believe each person is unique and unrepeatable. We are also not afraid to ask questions and readily admit we don't have all the answers. Life is a journey and God is still speaking!

What should I wear to service?

You should come as you are and be comfortable!   Some wear jeans and others wear a dress or a tie.   Most dress casually in a way that respects the service.
