There are many advantages to involving your children in the life of a church! Children who come regularly to HUCC will:
- become aware of God's all-encompassing love and extravagant welcome to all
- cherish this loving Christian community and build friendships with others in the church
- learn how to live out their values in this world
- gain religious literacy throughout their education
- have fun and make lasting memories
Sunday School:
Sunday School is a program offered on Sunday mornings for children. The kids learn Biblical stories and progressive Christian values. The stories and themes are taught through a variety of mediums-art, music, drama, movement, cooking, games, discussion, reading, writing, etc.
We have four age groups for Sunday School: Toddlers and Threes, 4 & 5 Year Olds (including Kindergarten), 1st & 2nd Grade, and 3rd-5th Grade. During the school year, Sunday School meets after our worship service, from approximately 11:15-12:00. All classes are in the Preschool (west) wing. Sunday School is held once a month during the summer.
Kid Zone:
During our school year, our weekly Wednesday night program (6:15-7:45p.m.) is kind of like our youth groups, but for kids! Every week is a different activity. One week might be a game night, another night we'll do some cooking, and another night we'll do a service project. The age range is age 3 through 5th grade (12-36 months are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult). Dinner starts at 5:30.
Worship:
Children are important members of our community, and we value having them in worship. In addition to the children's chat (see below), we have a special Children's Corner where they can find a quiet activity to do during worship (books, coloring, stuffed animals,etc.). Children are always welcome at worship, but we also have a nursery where young kids can play.
Children's Chat:
Our Sunday worship contains a special time for children called the Children's Chat. The message or theme for the day is presented to the children in ways that they can grasp. Whether we're using puppets, acting something out together, or listening to the children's clever responses, the Children's Chat is a memorable weekly moment for both the children and the adults!
T.A.G. (Together, All Generations):
Several times throughout the year we will have special events outside of church services that we hope everyone will attend. Whether it's the Pride Parade, Halloween party, Art Cafe, Animal blessing or trip to the zoo, everyone of all ages is welcome.
Expectations:
We hope that you will register your child for our children's programs. When you do so, you will be asked to volunteer in some capacity for our children's ministry. When you register your child we hope that you willcommit to bringing them regularly to programs and worship at HUCC. Registration forms are on theChildren's Ministry bulletin board or you can register online. Also, monthly schedules are on the bulletin board and are e-mailed to those who have registered.

In today’s pressured and too often alienating world, Holladay United Church of Christ provides a community in which young people are welcomed and valued unconditionally. We also want to help our youth discover their own gifts for ministry and encourage them to take ownership and responsibility for their faith.
We do that through the following programs:
Middle School Youth Group is a safe, fun and comfortable space for all sixth, seventh and eighth graders to be themselves and explore their faith. New people and friends are always welcome! During the school year, MSYG meets on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Middle School Sunday School: In addition to Wednesday night youth group, our middle schoolers have Sunday School. They meet Sundays from 10:10-10:55 a.m. in the Middle School Youth Room.
Retreats to La Foret: Both middle schoolers and high schoolers have the opportunity to go to retreats at La Foret, a UCC conference center near Colorado Springs.
Senior High Youth Group is open to all 9th-12th graders. SHYG is a safe, supportive and loving place in which teens are free to speak their minds, ask questions, explore their faith, and know that they are accepted. Through a wide variety of activities, some social, some spiritual, some off-site, and some service-oriented, youth group is a great opportunity to make friends, try something new, and connect with the church and the community. New people are always welcome to come and join in the fun! During the school year, SHYG meets on Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Senior High Service Trip is open to all youth who will have completed 9th through 12th grades and occurs every summer.

WE HAVE ONE SERVICE AT 10:00 AND CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AT 11:00
What makes HUCC so different than other churches? We are: progressive, innovative, contemporary, friendly, caring, education oriented, community minded, justice seeking, peace making, musical, inclusive, risk taking, and welcoming. We honor other paths to God, don't pretend to have all the answers, and care more about relationships than rules.
Children are welcome to attend the worship service and are welcome everywhere adults are. But if your family decides that doesn't work for you, there is childcare for infants to five years in the nursery. We also have a children's corner where your child can quietly get a book, paper and crayons to use during worship.
What is Bistro Hour? All are welcome after our services to have coffee and light refreshments in Mac Hall (down the stairs from the sanctuary). We would love to get to know you better, please join us!
Yes! We celebrate Communion the first Sunday of each month and at HUCC the Communion table is open - open to anyone who wishes to participate. In the spirit of community, it is a time to come together to celebrate our oneness. If you prefer not to participate, just remain seated - your participation is whatever you want it to be.
In addition to the Sunday morning programming during the school year, preschoolers through fifth grade meet Wednesday evenings from 6:00 to 7:00 for Kid Zone. Middle school youth meet Wednesdays from 6:00 to 8:00, and senior high youth meet Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. All are welcome, members, guests, and seekers.
Our experience is Christian and we are part of the United Church of Christ, but each congregation is different and each person is at a different place on their faith journey. We don't require our members to think the same and recognize that our differences can be a gift; and as stated in our covenant, we believe each person is unique and unrepeatable. We are also not afraid to ask questions and readily admit we don't have all the answers. Life is a journey and God is still speaking!

WORSHIP - 10:00 Sundays
Our worship combines liturgical tradition with progressive theology. Led by our pastor, a group of lay leaders, our sanctuary choir, and our music directors, this service offers a contemplative and meaningful opportunity to worship God. Communion is served on the first Sunday of every month. We hope you will join us!!
